The Lada Chair
A project focused on designing a cardboard chair that a person can sit on. Keep scrolling to learn more about the process.
The Challenge
Design and build a chair, with the ability to hold a 200 pound person, made out of cardboard using two sheets of cardboard.
Study
In order to study chairs and how people sit in them, I performed field operations where I sketched people sitting in chairs.
Ideation
After initial field observations, I began to come up with ideas for my chair.
Narrowing Down Ideas
After ideation, I narrowed down to five possible ideas that I wanted to go with.
The Final Concept
The Final Model
Cut with an X-ACTO knife, a ruler, a larger cutting mat, and hand-drawn templates--the cardboard chair was constructed.
